About World Space Week 2026

About the celebration

World Space Week is celebrated globally every year from 4–10 October, recognising the contribution of space science and technology to humanity. In 2026, the global theme is Rocket Revolution, highlighting the rapid transformation of launch technology and expanding access to space.

Why Rocket Revolution?

The space industry is entering a new era of reusable rockets, private launch companies, advanced propulsion, multi-stage systems and high-frequency launches. As access to space becomes faster, more affordable and more competitive, the demand for skilled rocket engineers and innovators is growing rapidly.

Who can participate?

Akashyan Spardha 2026 is designed for school students from classes 3–12, college and university students, and young innovators, aspiring engineers and space enthusiasts.

Participation format and team size vary by competition. College rocketry competitions allow teams of 1–5 participants. Remaining team sizes will be confirmed in the competition guidelines.

Will participants receive certificates?
