World Space Week is celebrated globally every year from 4–10 October, recognising the contribution of space science and technology to humanity. In 2026, the global theme is Rocket Revolution, highlighting the rapid transformation of launch technology and expanding access to space.
The space industry is entering a new era of reusable rockets, private launch companies, advanced propulsion, multi-stage systems and high-frequency launches. As access to space becomes faster, more affordable and more competitive, the demand for skilled rocket engineers and innovators is growing rapidly.
Akashyan Spardha 2026 is designed for school students from classes 3–12, college and university students, and young innovators, aspiring engineers and space enthusiasts.
Nine competitions across three levels — covering rocketry, aerospace design, simulation, creativity and public speaking.
College and university students
Design, build and fly a compliant solid-propellant model rocket optimized for maximum altitude while maintaining stability and reliable recovery.
Design and launch a multi-stage water rocket capable of automatic stage separation, stable flight and independent recovery of every stage.
Design a reusable solid-propellant rocket capable of reaching at least 100 metres, autonomously recovering, landing precisely and demonstrating suitability for reuse.
Develop a technically defensible computational rocket simulation that models, validates and optimizes a realistic aerospace engineering problem.
Classes 6–12
Design and launch a water-propelled rocket for maximum horizontal range while demonstrating aerodynamic stability, structural integrity and creative engineering.
Build a water-propelled rocket with an autonomous parachute recovery system and electronic payload.
Speak spontaneously on rocketry, space access and mission failures.
Create an original space-themed artwork in 120 minutes based on a topic revealed on competition day under the theme Rocket Revolution.
Classes 3–5

World Space Week 2026 runs 4–10 October. Akashyan Spardha takes place across the first two days.

Detailed competition timings and reporting times will be shared with registered participants.
Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation. No travel or accommodation facilities will be provided by the organisers.
Basic snacks and lunch will be provided to registered participants during the event.

Yes. Eligible students can participate in the designated school rocketry competitions, subject to the official technical and safety guidelines.

Participation format and team size vary by competition. College rocketry competitions allow teams of 1–5 participants. Remaining team sizes will be confirmed in the competition guidelines.
Yes. Participants must complete the official registration process before participating.
